The basis of the conflict between the family members was too contrived for me. It felt as if the source of the siblings’ mistrust and contempt for their brother Danny (because of his role in the accidental death of a sister during his youth) was so contrived and unrealistic that it resulted in a lot of cliche circumstances and dialogue. I wonder if the writers got to a point where they were too invested to start over and try a better, more believable sinister plot that they ended up twisting and squeezing out a sellable script.
