The three and four-year-olds in the school where I was teaching LOVED this book. The combination of a VERY SCARY GENIE and a resourceful woman beach resident and her cat mesmerized these children. They wanted the story read to them over and over again. I won't reveal the outcome but you should read this book for yourself to see how the Genie is outwitted in a very clever way. The drawings are evocative of coastal Maine and are beautifully detailed with rich color and historic accuracy. This is one of my all time favorite children's picture books and any young child should thoroughly enjoy it.
