Good story great music. AR Rehman deserves an oscar for the music. He mixed Sufi with contemporary music and lyrics by Gulzar sir is heart touching. Mani Ratnam, the director has given us many Gems like Nayakan, Thalpathy, but he falters here big time. This is his first Hindi movie as a director and he makes a mess of it at the end. It was going smoothly but for the climax. He should have stuck to the terrorism genre but instead he tried to make it into a love story. Many years after this movie came a movie called Hu Tu Tu. When I watched the climax of this movie, I thought it could have saved Dil se, irony is it is directed by Gulzar sir.

Gadh aala pan Singh Gela. My childhood memories came flooding back as I was watching this movie. Having stayed in Pune for a very long time, and been to Kondhana (Sinhgad) many a times, this was a special experience. One of the best historic movies I have ever seen. Performance wise, both Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan are on top of the game, Saif being the scene stealer. Action sequences are right up to the mark as well as the special effects. Kajol has little to do, but she does it with equal aplomb. The director deserves an oscar for this. Ajay Devgn deserves a national award for this.
