I understand that this is a reboot and some things should be different. I am a fan of setting this in the future for non teen fans. The chemistry with Liz and Max grows the more episodes you watch. However I'm very disappointed that Michael and Alex are gay. I'd be all for it with a new character but for fans of the original show its almost disrespectful to the memory of the characters we loved. Not that I am against any of the characters being gay, just not these particular characters because it's like saying you new nothing about a character that you thought you knew and had a connection to. It just makes it a completely different show, instead of reimagining a classic. It seems forced and not natural. Also it cuts away the ability for there to ever be the love story between Micheal and Marie that was so raw, gritty and real.
Perhaps the writer's should take a que from other popular series that seem to get it right. On Wynonna Earp there is both a lesbian and a male gay couple portrayed and they seem completely natural together. Their love scenes are well written and you get the sense that there is true affection there between the characters. Perhaps it will be revealed that Micheal is bisexual and the story line will change overtime much like Willow's character from Buffy the Vampire slayer.
Also I agree with another fan that said Scifi fans like to escape from reality & politics. So let's leave some of that out.
