I'm from the bronx. I remember watching this on the news with my family and my dad using this story to teach me about bad association. All I could help and think at the time was why do I have to watch other men who look just like me and dress like me so I wont get into trouble? Ava captured every negative emotion i ever felt in my life growing up black in America. Then she freed those emotions with vindication. It was a privilege to watch this film. It let's me know my work is never done.
