Chutuo Pouemi – Google

Just watched both the 1957 and 2007 version and it feels as if a new version might be needed for 2027 so we younger people might be reminded of what the truest meaning of sacrifice for the greater good is once more explained. It is a poignant movie and I have a preference for the older version because of that speech where he explains why he gets on that suicidal mission just because "it needs to be done" for, duty has finally fallen onto his own hands.

Not a film connaisseur by any stretch of the imagination but I kept on asking myself which genius wrote this... What genius wrote this? Then it turns out that the not only he wrote it, but he directed it. IF there were ever a case of be made that some movies ought to be directed solely by whomever wrote the script, this it it. Nothing go lost in translation: perfect sunday night movie. Totally forgot I have work tomorrow. You are brilliant Rian Johnson.

They say you don't choose your family, it choose you, but whatever the case may be, family has to feel like family and this one this so well, I envied it. It was also a reminder to me of how little we humans need to have meaningful existance. When their burried grand-ma insisde of that house, I literally cried: they refused to let her go: overall, an astounding lecture abour kindness and belonging and family. Not sure movie can be made that are actually better than this one. 6 stars out of 5! From Africa, with love!

Good story and decent acting altogether. I had an issue with editing. The rape scene took too long and so were quite a few other scenes. Translation between pidgin and English was rather interesting. YOu cannot really translate "Ashia" in English, because western languages have nothing to express compassion and empathy the way Pidgin expresses it. That is a challenge. Ashia cannot be translated as " sorry" like they did in the movie. However, great effort overall. The sceneries brought me back home.
