Like so many part-Aboriginal children taken from their mothers and families in this era, Alice Nannup was underpaid, abused and overworked. Her story of rising above these drawbacks and her search for her family while raising 10 children is an inspiration to any one who reads her story.
I confess to being more than a little biased, but Alice Nannup was never bitter about her upbringing and a role model to her family until the day she died. I am very proud to have had her as a mother-in-law. Read her book and you will see why.
