I would give it 4.5, but I loved it. Its as good or better than the first scream movie. Scream 1 was mocking slasher movies in a way and hella feminist in a way I enjoyed. The characters were quite smart to a degree. Scream 4 is a parody of scream 1 bit more of a social commentary that was ahead of its time. Jill being the killer was ab unexpected welcomed twist unlike thr one in scream 3. She really said Girlboss throughout, even after her death because she got what she wanted: Fame. Scream 4 may not be scary, but nonr of the screams were, they were always more like a "who done it" and "when thry gon kill" while making fun of peoples dumb actions. Scream 4 was this on steroids and I lived for it. Scream 2 and scream 3 were such disappointments compared to this. Scream 2 had a killer that was obvious and the other that had no foreshadowing and was badly written, it ruined gale weathers whole character. The movie was only good to give sidney character development. Scream 3 had no foreshadlwing, bad plot and badly written unlikeable characters - it had a good plot device (voice changer) and used it well only for it to become watsed on a bad killer. While scream 3 and 4 both had unexpected killers, scream 4s was welcomed because it was a spin on the first movie and she had a compelling motivation that didnt come out of no where (it was subtly implied), and had a good amount of screen time. Scream 3 had no screen time to develop the killer for you to empathise with his motives and quite frankly it was illogical. Scream 3 did quite well to develop sidney and i liked how she was a suicide-hotline kinds girl and how it carried on a bit through her book in scream 4. Also emma roberts sepremacy 😩
