As someone who left high school not that long ago, I feel this show really shows what teens today go through. Of course there is some dramatization, because it's a tv show that needs good ratings, I still found myself relating to many of the situations that this show brings afloat. In season one you see how a beautiful girl can be broken into pieces by rumors, bullying, betrayal, lies, and the entitled male culture we as a society condone. Season two you see how the justice system is broken. How one girl's words and testimonies does not stand a chance against the privilege of males. How her reputation now damns her even after her death. And how this prevents others from speaking out. Finally, in season three you see that even the perpetrators are human who where not born evil but where made thanks to their own struggles. Although it does not excuse them it does remind us that they are human as well.
I understand if you dont want your kids watching this. However I suggest every parent watch this and learn from it. Open your mind and imagine all of these pressures being placed on your teen. I feel every parent needs to see so they can understand behaviors, changes, and how things progress.
That's all.
