If you've seen Midnight Mass then you be won't be blindsided by a similar concept, in the broadest of ways, that leads to an entirely different kind of story. Broadly, the human drive to explain the unexplainable through the use of religion and how that can corrupt. Granted, Hellbound is much more cynical and squarely in the camp of "humans should decide our own fates" when faced with a super natural disaster.
