"Where are you going, where have you been?" is a chilling dive into a story of isolation and fear of emotional intimacy. While the story has some sensitive subject matter (sexual assault) it ultimately uses it to show a progression from how living in the moment leads to a troubling conclusion. The events of the story are haphazard and seem to be happening to the reader, rather than carefully deliberated upon, which adds to the theme of not learning from one's past. While it's not a story for everyone, the level of engagement required makes it a pleasure to reread. The pacing of the story rising through the plot really drives the anxiety and discomfort home. I recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a bone-chilling and memorable story.
