Netflix recommended this weird, biography-wildlife documentary mashup to me and, despite the title being so cheesy (it reminded me of "My Sassy Girl" 🤣), I decided to watch it cause I'm a sucker for anything that has underwater shots.
I liked it because a.) underwater shots and b.) octopus. It really woke the urge in me to dive again, or snorkel... Or at least go to the sea... Heck I'll just take a shower.
BUT!
For some reason I assumed that it was entirely self-shot, self-directed and self-produced (SPOILER: IT'S NOT!!) so all of the shots of Craig seemed purely narcissistic and, at times, outright creepy. Self-produced or not, his solo shots distracted me, especially the ones where he just stares blankly into space (SPOILER: THERE ARE A LOT OF THOSE). And I found it egotistical that the film documented the lifetime of an octopus and yet somehow they found a way to always make the story about Craig.
