This is a seemingly sweet movie but as a native Minnesotan its completely false in terms of accent and general demeanor. MINNESOTANS sound just like any other American, and/or just like Renée Zellweger in the movie. Also yes there are "small town' values but you can find that anywhere and people don't act as ridiculous as they're portrayed in the film, nor do we say "you betcha." Also Minnesota is only cold for the winter months just like any Northern east/west coast state and is very hot for the spring/summer months and well into fall. Over all a very stereotypical film that has no level of accuracy. The story is nice in general but makes an entire state of people look like idiots. Even the food choices are off. I grew up in minnesota until i was 20 and moved to boston and the people from the city are just the same and the people from small towns of MN and MA are also just the same.
