Independent Voter

This version of Dune is vague and hard to follow. The storyline does not flow well. It fails to do justice to Frank Herbert's book or the prior movies. If you haven't read Herbert's book or seen the prior movies, you might still find it hard to follow. It's very similar to what was done with The Hobbit a few years ago. The storyline is chopped up into unrecognizable pieces. Not worth the money.

Like so many movie remakes, the 2021 Dune doesn't come close to the quality of the 1984 original, which is by far the best of the three Dune movies (1984, 1994, 2021). Unless you've seen the first two movies, or have read Frank Herbert's book, the storyline can be really hard to follow. Like many of today's movies, special effects are way over-used in this 2021 edition. It also appears that the makers of this 2021 version are hoping to cash in on a sequel, as only half of the Dune story is shared in it. After having seen this movie, I wouldn't go see it again, and do not plan to see the sequel. Don't waste your time and money on this film. Watch the 1984 version and read the book.
