The only similarity with H G Wells' masterpiece was Mars, The tripods and Woking. In all other respects it was a second rate program that was a vehicle for the author from the high moral ground and the benefit of hindsight to pour scorn on Victorian British for doing the same as the Dutch, Germans, French, Portuguese and Spanish did.
