My first job at 15 was washing dishes at a family diner and the hustle was almost more than I could handle. But that energy drove me to become a cook, bartender, manager and entertainment booker for establishments for 20 years.
The Bear NAILS THIS AND SO MUCH MORE!
The Bear is the kind of show that Food Network wants to really create but they are so under the burden of being G rated to appease their sponsors. This is no fault of theirs, they are all about being non-offensive and their business model demands that it's that way.
The Bear however, explores elements that so many highly skilled culinary persons encounter after they get out of school. Less than ideal conditions are the norm, but a chef's passion drives them to do more than their best with what they've got.
In terms of ethnic inclusion- this series not only does that, the demographics of those who are in that business reflects it. Season 2 when Carmy and his family open up as "The Bear" cannot come soon enough.
