In Moon of the Crusted Snow, Waubgeshig Rice brings forward an amazing story of survival that every person would be able to connect. The post-apocalyptic world feels so real that you would start believing that this may be based on a true story in the beginning. The characters are very well developed and at the heart of the book is the Anishinaabe portraying the essence of the First Nations. This book is a must-read for everyone especially people in Canada to realize how First Nations people lead their lives in the reserves and how their year is all about preparing for winter and surviving the winter. The book also teaches us about hope and how it is crucial for survival! It is definitely one of the best books that I have ever read!
