Will try and be spoiler free with my review. I went into this game completely blind. Checked out a few reviews from some gaming sites and purchased it. No spoilers. Not paying attention to any of the haters. Wanted to make up my own mind. Key takeaway: the game is an incredible accomplishment. On so many levels. Beyond having an incredibly storyline — one that’s tortured and tragic and dark — it also has these slivers of hope that remind you life is what you make of it. It’s our choices that primarily determine our fate. Don’t feed into the pain, hurt, and anger. Let it empower you to make better choices and be a better person. And forgive and let go. Not only for your own sake, but for the sake of the world around you. Yes, the game has its flaws. Primarily towards the end (won’t say what it is, will just say that it felt like I kinda had to play the game again). But ultimately this game leaves with a feeling of trying to be a better person in your life. Additionally, I loved that it represented people from all walks of life and all colors. I loved that it was a female protagonist, and that sexual identity was fluid with one of the characters. That’s a big step for any gaming company to do. And it didn’t feel forced. It felt natural and right, and most important, realistic. Excellent game. Despite its flaws, 10 out of 10 in my book. And I loved the ending. The brightest lights often come from the darkest of places.
