I picked up book up on a whim after Audible recommended it to me and halfway through the book I had gone back to purchase the next three volumes. For me one of the things I appreciated most was the reverence shown by Travis Bagwell for games and MMOs in general. It becomes intimately apparent that Bagwell himself is an avid gamer as he goes to lengths to explain how certain MMO mechanics are treated in his virtual world of Awaken Online. The best way I could sum this up is it takes the ideas of something like the anime Sword Art Online but actually respects the medium while giving the protagonist realistic drives and weaknesses.
