I walked every mile of this journey till the end. It was worth the emotions I showed. I felt it.
There's first, the problem of family and societal pressure on the less privileged girl child to do everything possible to make ends meet for the family. They feel this weight upon them to satisfy every need in their homes. Hence, the birth of the likes of Linda, a tragic character in the movie. Then there is a transition to prostitution, the next available flight to sustenance, using what you have to get what you want. But if that doesn't satisfy, then there is the longing to leave the nation for greener pastures elsewhere through a means that is not worth the while.
This film displays before all the evils that swims through the streams of our ignorance daily. It shows us the happenings around those ones we call prostitutes in our society. Thinking of them as sex slaves alone and nothing more.
'Ólótūré' is an eye opener. That opener that makes us see what we shouldn't ignore in the first place. That opener that tells us stories that are beyond what we have known and heard.
It is a masterpiece.
