This is from someone who really likes the older paper Mario games and grew up with them; this game is honestly a blast. Sure, this isn’t the paper Mario we NEEDED, nor is it the one we have been expecting, but it’s a paper Mario game that we can ENJOY. First things first is the battles; let me say that I’m glad we aren’t collecting stickers or cards to fight in this game, and there are actual weapons. The stronger ones do have a durability feature, which is a hundred times better than having it gone in one use. It’s a bit disappointing that we still don’t have exp, and we only get coins and confetti. But coins and confetti are really useful. Later on in the game they get even more rare since the environmental confetti does get more scarce over time and coins, while you are showered with them, actually gives a much better use. Some key items are really expensive and will drain your coin counter. Items and accessories are also really pricy. The puzzles for the combat seems a bit repetitive; but they offer quite a great challenge for your mind. It’s drastically better than the previous two games. That’s for sure. The music, overworld and story is beautiful. There are a good amount of moments that’ll make you laugh if joy and cry of sadness. For example, (SPOILERS) once you get to a specific part of the game, like the yellow streamer. Bobby the bomb omb, who is one of your partners, shared his backstory about his friend who died and keeps a fuse by him to remember him. But he uses the fuse on himself to explode a rock to save Olivia who was crushed by it. Never in my life would I have that many emotional feelings to a bomb omb. And TOK does that just Well. Overall; it’s a really solid title. 8.4/10.
