Someone said “this is a polish film not an American film which is what they’re used to”. Referring to all of the one star reviews. Trust me, as a horror/gore fan, this is movie was awful to watch. Just because it’s polish doesn’t mean it won’t be awful and predictable with each passing second. Truly lazy writing in my opinion, the plot was copy and paste.
*Some spoilers*
The main characters, group number 4, had an incompetent “experienced” group leader that did nothing for the plot but be a convenient “let’s split up and get ourselves killed instead of doing the adult thing and heading back to camp once we discovered a member of the group had mysteriously disappeared” so as to further the story. She served absolutely no purpose other than to be killed. The teens could have just gone hiking by themselves and nothing would have changed; except the fact that they would’ve probably lived.
Also the parents not paying attention while driving and crossing into the other lane while a truck is heading their way and then crashing is just stupid. It’s such a stupid and overused scenario. Zosia, the main protagonist, has flashbacks to that crash that in no way help out the situation she’s in.
There is also a priest who hates gay people? He comes to the camp to preach, then leaves and we don’t see him again until later when he ties up Bartek. I really don’t understand why it’s even in the movie. Apparently to showcase that Poland hates gay people? He then gets tossed in a wood chipper by the killer and uh, that’s it. That’s it. That’s. It.
Overall an awful and generic horror movie and I hate that I watched it.
