Finally a remake done correctly. What they've done was taken an almost masterpiece and and turned it into a high tuned masterpiece. Let's not nostalgia get in our way here. Yes the original was amazing for it's time, but it you replay through it now you can easily see where they made mistakes and see the massive holes in the plot. FF7 remake part 1 covers the Midgar section of the original. This allowed them to fine tune the story to perfection and fix some parts of the story that didn't make sense in the original. Including Sephiroth this early in the game is a major bonus.
Let's talk about game play! It's beautiful and smooth once you master the controls and battle settings quick execute commands. They took the best parts of FF7: Crisis Core for the PSP and implemented it in to the remake, and allowing control of multiple characters. Zack Fair would be pleased.
Originally bought the PS4 version and recently got the PS5 and upgraded"for free" to the PS5 version along with the new DLC. This also fixes the use of the new "Synergy Materia" and is now a staple materia in my lineup. I can not wait until the next portion comes out. I hope they read reviews because I do hope they maintain a level of open world in the remake once our favorite characters leave Midgar. This is everything I could ever want and more, in the remake of my favorite FF game.
The only real negative reviews you might see are from people that use nostalgia in the wrong way. People that just can't stand any type of change. You can go ahead and ignore them and give the game a shot for yourself. It's a beaut!
