I am a fan of the original shining as well as Stephen King's book version. King is known for hating the Kubrick version but has praised this sequel and I can definitely see why. It uses the best parts of the Kubrick version as well as King's own version. It pays homage to the original with an updated and impressive story line. I grew up on King's books and movies and seeing them redone in the new generation is a little daunting. I look forward to the modern movie technology applied to the old stuff, making it more scary and more realistic. However you're messing with classics, so it can go either way. Since King's come back tour there have been some disappointments along the way but Doctor Sleep definitely isn't one! It appeals to the fans of the original Kubrick film with a fresh story line for new fans. It's sure to become a classic in it's own right.
