This movie really asks the viewer to rethink their knee jerk reactions to mental illness. In fact it portrays psychotic breaks as a peculiar and mesmerizing world which society fears and seeks to contain and medicalize at all costs. Rather than interpreting the protagonist Sarah, as a victim instead she is portrayed as a beautiful oddity who finds deep meaning in the very mundane aspects of her life. The viewer will fear for her, but the acting and storytelling demands that you own your fears as your own rather than project them onto Sarah. Very intriguing film.
