I love this book so much but I would absolutely not recommend it if you are triggered by manipulative behaviour or read books because you like rooting for the main characters, as there’s only really one in the novel and you don’t really see him a lot until much later in the story. This book is brilliant not only because of its dramatic and haunting themes, but also because of how deeply flawed all of the characters are; all apart from 1 would be so unlikeable in real life, but as characters they’re fascinating to read about (my favourites of these characters were Catherine and Cathy). I would recommend listening to one of the audiobooks before reading the book itself (I enjoyed the one read by Patricia Routledge), as it’s a very dense read and the audiobook makes it much easier to understand. I’m not much into classics, but this is one of my favourite books in general, and it’s even greater if you like analysing behaviour. Love this book, would definitely recommend to those who have similar tastes as myself.
