As a fashion designer I was so excited to watch this show as I love anything related to fashion. I feel they missed the mark on some of the challenges. I did not appreciate the conversation about Marco and Ashton having too much of a "LA Vibe" or the remarks about Farai and Kiki about streetwear. I dont like the insinuation that LA fashion isnt posh enough and needs to be elevated or couture. Too many high end brands rip off indie LA designers to stay on top of what's trending so how dare you! Their look was bomb. I also feel they were trying to redefine the essence of streetwear and the designer judge wasnt having it. I know people keep saying there was a minority card being pulled but in all honesty that team gave you the very essence of street fashion, no filter. They should focus more on the designers inspiration and execution throughout the show instead of how they personally felt about each look and if they would wear it. Or at least be consistent with what they are looking for since one episode they are focused on consumerism and the next avant garde. I feel the guest judges are swayed their better judgement, specifically the patterns challenge when the designer said the cow print design was exactly what he was looking for and couldn't even understand what the mingi team was even going after then had to be given a whole story to get it and take in the garment and even then it wasnt all that great.. I feel the streetwear challenge designer was just being firm in his decision and they were being frustrated that he didnt change his mind. The team with mingi was sweet however their silhouette was the same each challenge. There was no versatility. They dressed great each episode I just wished they put that much effort into their looks. This show has potential to be better than project runway. I just think that they should have the guest designers have more impact in the beginning of each episode and be apart of each challenge and give them more of a voice because ultimately we want to hear from them.
