The animation and ancient Japanese style of this game is absolutely beautiful. I also love that they finally took the game in a different direction. It is certainly less child-like and I love how you actually have to catch Pokémon using skill rather than just luck. I also love that wild Pokémon attack you. The one thing I miss, which is a BIG thing for me, is trainer battles. Sure, you get the fight one person per area maybe but that is just not sufficient for me. I can do without gym leaders, but I miss feeling like there is some grand battle in the future (whether it be the elite four or something new) to feel like there is actually a purpose in leveling up my team and making them stronger. Battles with wild Pokémon just don’t cut it for me as battling has always been my favorite aspect of the series. The game makes you feel like more of a Pokémon researcher than an actual Pokémon trainer which sort of ruins the nostalgia for me. I love that they made changes, I do, just wish they didn’t get rid of my favorite aspect of the franchise in order to do so
