So I decided to try out ‘Never Have I Ever’ on Netflix after reading rave reviews about it and watching the trailer which wasn’t entirely disappointing.
But, my bad.
How this show has gotten an 8.1 imdb rating, I will never understand.
The show seems to have many storylines, with Devi and her teenage issues, dealing with the loss of her dad, Kamala’s issues with marriage etc. But none of these plotlines develop much or are interesting enough to keep you hooked to your seat.
Plus afcourse, its quite irritating to see how stereotypically indian her parents and neighbours (especially in the ganesh pooja episode) are portrayed. Yet again. I dont know if it was to add humour to the plot, because there is barely any to begin with, or to actually highlight Devi’s cultural background.
I genuinely did give this show a try after getting repeatedly bored with the end of every episode.
But its S1E05 (total of 10episodes in this season) and I can safely say I am finally done and never will I ever return to this show again.
