I don't think there was a single scene put to waste, every scene in this movie is important and has plot relevance. Absolutely zero filler accommodated with a shorter runtime makes this one of the best watching experiences I've ever had. The plot is completely unpredictable without just being a bunch of plot twists for the sake of it. I'm not going to spoil anything because if you haven't seen it, you should, because it's a genuine masterpiece, but specifically something that happens about halfway through the film seems like it's going to be a big plot point, but the scene after it ends up being the big plot point, and the original scene isn't because the character in it brushes it off like it's nothing. This movie also shows you how far someone will go, which is the main theme of the film, pushing yourself beyond your limits. If you're ever in a film class and they don't bring up Whiplash at least once, then there's a problem.
