It's a pretty interesting film, superbly made, often funny and decent acting, though Naomi Watts as a delightful aspiring actress is a lot better than decent. There's been a lot of talk about the film's surrealism and 'deeper meaning' but I don't see that. There is a chunk of the film which turns out to be a fantasy and the rest about the young actress falling in love with one of the 'Hollywood crowd' and what happens to that love ... a few allusions to 'appearance and reality' but nothing ground-breaking. Nice to watch, that's the best thing about it (Naomi being also very pleasant on the eye).

What to say about this baby? Nice to watch, moderately intriguing, sort of well-acted. But a simply implausible story. A kid is supernaturally afflicting a family with mystery illnesses which will kill them all unless the father sacrifices one of the family? Well, if you can suspend disbelief on that score, this may be for you ... I dunno, maybe you can give it 'artistic licence', say it's a psychological study, the context isn't to be taken literally ... but as a psychological study it's clumsy and shallow. And it is nothing like the Greek tragedy Iphigenia
