The movie is very patriotic and energetic. It showed India had strong and cruel enemies even before arrival of British. There are many other 'forgotten heroes' like Narveer Taanaji Malusare who should also be filmed and it is actually disgraceful for Indians that such people are labeled 'forgotten'. However this movie too had heavily distorted story. The movie villain Uday Bhan Rathore was son-in-law of Mirza Jai Singh left behind by Jai Singh himself when returned from Deccan. This movie shows a Rajput princess kidnapped earlier by him which is false but he has 12 sons who were as cruel as him. There were quite a few Rajput soldiers also who came with and helped Uday Bhan. All were killed by Tanaji but none shown. The end of movie shows Shivaji reaching Kondhana to meet dying Taanaji. The scene was very emotional but not true because pious dead body was taken to Maharaj Saheb in a palanquin. It hold back one star for showing a doctored story.

One hell of a movie, stupendous fighting scenes against most cruel humans of that time but marred with several fake scenes. Fake scene 1- one khan masud afridi snubbing a Mullah for using name of Allah in warfare, it was clearly stupidity of script writer because faith in Allah was central to ideology of those Afghans, like it was for their descendants Taliban in recent history Fake scene 2- Drum beating show of afghans, it would be unnecessary and actually didn't happen Fake scene 3- Mullah Saidullah ordering beheading of an afghan woman in front of Saragarhi. It wouldn't be necessary to do such a thing at that place at least Fake scene 4- Akshay as Hav Ishar announces he intend to show British they were no cowards. Don't put in such shameless scenes Sir. The sikhs had already been fighting Pathans for quite a few generations and had personal animosity with them. Fake scene 5- The battle ending at 6:15PM. No, sir battle ended 3 hours earlier at 3:15PM, please don't lie like that! Fake scene 6- Afridi commander Khan Masud announcing failure of whole attack and impossibility of reaching other two forts and leaving back for his home. No sir that is a shameless lie from Movie makers. No such announcement was made and afghans actually move on to attack Fort Gulistan after this. They didn't leave till thousands of them were gunned down by reinforcements next day. Fake scene 7- Khan Masud instructing his fellow Gul Badshah not to touch turbans of dead sikhs. Well, that's something incomprehensible because Gul Badhshah was actually the main leader of that pathan army and not to be 'instructed' by anyone like that at that place. The pathans were actually insane enough to be fond of mutilating bodies of dead enemies but movie makers would be too scared to show anything like that!!!
