Amanda Seyfried captures Elizabeth’s mannerisms and voice well, but it’s hard to get past her being cast to play such a tall woman (she appears to be tiny). The other criticism: the music popped into every other scene…it’s distracting and doesn’t fit well in certain scenes. I think the show did a good job of showing Sunny’s role in her life and the company. I’m fascinated with this story…..I don’t get how she duped so many people.

Spoilers Ahead! This show is an insult: to the men in the cast (they have absolutely none of the charm that made us love them), to the new diverse cast members (hey, we need black friends), to the characters lost since SATC (really? Big leaves his ex wife $1 million? Stanford leaves Anthony for a pop tart? Samantha leaves NYC and all of the loves of her life?), and to the original cast (I can’t decide if Miranda or Charlotte is more annoying). And the reboot is just depressing! Who wants to watch a woman lose the love of her life!? I wanted to like it….really I did. I’m the same age as SJP and I cannot relate to this show at all.

What made me looooove watching Project Runway (PR) was the designers…..not the judges and not even the clothes. I was invested in the contestants…period. PR spent more time on the struggles, the behind the scenes cat fights, and the intimate moments along the journey. If you also loved that aspect, you will feel short changed with Making the Cut (MTC). At the end of the day, viewers need to feel connected to the designer. On the plus side, if you see something you love on MTC, you can buy it right away on Amazon. I don’t get the seamstress thing: how are you designing clothes if you can’t sew? If MTC wanted to include seamstresses, they could have done it in a more creative way than the designers throwing their stuff in a garment bag with a note. (Possibly because of COVID?) Final assessment: this is a TV show…..I have to be invested to keep tuning in.
