I went to see the movie with my 12 year old daughter and my parents. It was important for me to not only read the story, but see it. I wanted my daughter to understand part of her true blackness and how we take certain things for granted today. As a black woman, black mother, black citizen, I can say I am happy Hollywood decided to depict a black historically relevant figure such as Harriet Tubman to come to life on the big screen. I am appreciative of the power in the story and I am just so much more thankful for everything our foremothers and fathers did just so I am a free woman today. Freedom wasn’t free. Thank you Harriet!
