I want to like it. There are some excellent actors in it, beautiful sets, and great costumes, but it is a little hard to connect with the characters. The story potential is there. The way it's shot doesn't draw you in. For example, go back and take a look at the first five minutes of Downton Abbey. The camera draws you in immediately, you have close ups of characters as the camera follows staff through the house setting the stage for the sense of hustle in the lives of the staff -- you immediately want to know more about them.
There is also something not quite right about the timing in scenes--there is a lot of shade in the dialog, and there don't seem to be pauses to fully capture reactions, or maybe this is also camera work and editing?
I hope it finds its groove. There is much to love here.
