What a masterpiece. I am so so glad and grateful I watched this film. Having limited knowledge or awareness to the life and history of Elvis, apart from his ever-favourite songs, I went into this movie wanting to know more about this musical legend.
I was absolutely floored. This film was artfully made and stood mountains above anything else I'd seen in the past few years. Austin Butler was utterly magnificent in this role, if that is even enough to describe it. I've never seen such a true performance given impersonating such an icon. He needs and deserves an Oscar for it. From the charisma to the dance moves, the facial expressions and voice - I was in awe.
I was deeply enlightened to learn about EP's connection with Rhythm & Blues and African American culture and his deep passion for music and performing. He truly was God-gifted. Supporting actors were also amazing.
Movie editing was great and the soundtrack, moving. I literally sobbed into my jacket for the last 15 minutes of the movie and kept tearing up thinking about it afterwards. Just wow. Simply incredible.
