The anime feels cliche and depressing from the start. He fell in love with a girl out of his league, then just as they became friends in a game it begins to shutdown. He tries to spend his last moment with her in game, but its taken away from him. Then she meets him irl knowing who he is and genuinely wants to be with him despite their clear differences. Then another bloody tragedy happens. After that tragedy is somewhat over with, YET ANOTHER comes along which separates them further. And its pretty bloody clear in the beginning of the anime, he rescues her but he is likely forever barred from seeing her again. I like drama & romance as well as isekai, but seriously, everything about this just screams depression without a happy ending. I'm up to the 6th episode and even the bad guys feel boring as hell. I've seen sad anime like Guilty Crown, Elfen Lied, and Future Diary, even they didn't shove that bloody many tragedies in your face like they are pill pushers. I've pushed through animes that felt boring an confusing like Ergo Proxy and Blood-C, but at least they had moments where it seemed to promise a light, but this anime just has depression after depression in it an the story makes even less sense. Villains are suppose to feel like a genuine threat. But these villains feel CARTOON CLICHE "bad" and they are apparently some super organization that wants to rob.... graves??? And they make a game centered around doing just that an then physically enter that game to rob graves..... These villains make me think: "Why should I care?" Especially when... they are robbing graves IN A VIDEO GAME. So its apparently an anime about some kid that becomes a "grave keeper" in a game to protect the graves from people who are grave robbers irl. And to make it worse? The grave robbers own that game.... I've heard of fantasy suspended reality, but this goes beyond south park in terms of unrealistic. JUST DISCONNECT THE GAME, DELETE THE ONE DEFENDER, NOW YOU WIN. DONE. Bad guy win. But they don't do that cause "plot". And say that dont work, okay, make a new game an keep the other offline. But then again, ITS A GAME WORLD, so really... WHY SHOULD I CARE IF THEY WIN AT ALL?
