Excellent telling of the perils of lazy, prejudiced policing and the effects it has on the people affected by it. Others have given the summary of the story. I’ll leave that to them. I can only add that I was engrossed from the beginning and angered throughout. I found the acting to be exceptional. Just Mercy is a must see.

1917 Is a powerful story of one man’s courage. Set in the horrors of WW I, the movie follows soldiers as they try to get a message across No Man’s Land to troops several miles away. Intense!

I wonder if the critics saw the same movie I did. What I saw was the story of personalities trying to find their way, saddened by their regrets and hopeful for a better tomorrow. The talent was fantastic and the music tremendous. Unusual story line? Absolutely! Touching? Definitely!

I really wanted to like this movie and looked forward to seeing it. Having read the book and seen other versions of the story, my expectations were great. Slow and confusing are the best descriptions I can come up with. The acting was really good. However, flashbacks and the present time in the story bounced around so quickly that sometimes Jo’s hair length was the only thing that let me know where in the story we were. Although the script was faithful to the book, 2 hours 15 minutes was longer than necessary.
