If you know/play the game, the movie isn't even close to what the game really is. If you aren't familiar with the game, the movie is alright. The narrative is confusing and takes far too much time getting to each plot point. The body horror depicted in the first half is more reminiscent of the director's time spent with Resident Evil than with the source Monster Hunter material.
