Playing on Xbox Series X RE 7 and now 8 have quickly become my favorites in this franchise. The graphics are stunning. The map is well thought out and as you explore and unlock shortcuts is satisfying in the way From Software's "Souls likes" are. Like 7, this game's pacing and horror elements are reminiscent of earlier titles in the franchise. It ups the action versus 7 however, and features a significant increase in combat, much like 4 did. Unlike 4 (and 5 and 6), however, the horror elements don't suffer as a result. Post game unlocks are a blast to chase after, and use in subsequent runs. If I had to say something negative about the game, it's that the unlockable "Mercenaries" mode just isn't very fun. It depends too much on memorizing spawn patterns and speed to be enjoyable. Overall though I played through the story 4 times as I unlocked new weapons and infinite ammo. This game is great.

Playing on Xbox Series X (Xbox One Version) This game is an absolute treat. I'd highly recommend it if you're wanting a very laid back experience. Finding new slimes and experimenting with ways to use the various resources in the game is a blast, especially once you unlock crafting. Been reaching into my back catalog lately and I'm super happy that it gave this one a go!
