There are things to love about this series. Terrific characters, amazingly awful scenery. In a way the scenery tells the story. It’s a down and out island fallen on hard times. The main character Riley returns to the island after a stint inside. He arrives home to see that all the houses are in a state of decay. And the island is all about decay and hard times so it’s ripe for the arrival of the new priest( lots of stuff going on there..no spoilers)
It’s a kind of slow burn horror. Parts are turgid and preachy. Parts make you sit up and take notice. It’s also arcane..remote and specialised . Not like anything I’ve seen before.
