I just binge watched the whole thing and I love it. I'll admit I love the witcher franchise a lot and it probably is affecting my review a bit but I'll try and provide a few negatives to off set it.
Main cast, I thought, was amazing. Anya Chalotra did a great job at showing the over all sass and power driven desire that is yennefer but also showing her more caring and loving side. Henry Cavill nailed it. He is literally geralt in every way. Freya Allan was very good but I thought she didnt really get much attention beyond she is a scared child running away. She should have had more dialogue but the raw emotion she was able to show was incredible.
The support cast was also good but if not for the main cast I feel like the show would not be as good as it is. A fair few characters, like Anna Shaffers triss marigold, were kinda left wanting. Some of the witches in this are literally the most powerful witches alive and they kinda dont get to show that off. Joey Batey was great. His style of character was a easy thing to get wrong but he did a really good job.
Special effects were great. Monsters looked great, sound effects were great. I found some of the music choices for building tension were a bit off but over all it worked.
Time line was confusing at first but it basically goes that everything after the first episode is in the past until it's obviously not.
I will say it helps to have some previous knowledge of the franchise but it's not overly necessary. Some things are just glossed over that are pretty cool details that wouldn't be noticed otherwise. There is nothing that massively affects the understanding of what is happening but if you have someone in your family who has played the games or read the books it might be worth watching it with them as if you are unsure if anything they should be able to explain. Like why witchers use silver swords.
