One of the finest books I have ever read! The “plot” flows gently but never stalls. The writing itself, brilliantly metaphorical, is lavishly descriptive, subtly humorous, and insightful. The characters are believable and well-developed. It reads like historical fiction, discussing how the electrification of rural Ireland brought irreversible social changes to the country.
