I've finally forced myself to watch an edition of the new QoS - I thought I'd give it a little time to bed in. Oh dear, what have they done to what used to be one of the most enjoyable half-hours on TV? A presenter who thinks he must be jokey (presumably the reason he was hired), two team captains with little or no charisma and gadgets and gizmos that do nothing to advance sporting knowledge and have the effect of distorting the score (it is supposed to be a contest, after all).
This is absolutely typical of the BBC. It has a winner and it either flogs it to death or revamps it within an inch of its life to make it unrecognisable and unwatchable. And then we're supposed to believe that there's an appetite for that hoary old makeweight, Blankety Blank, which is being revived in pretty much its original form.
Jay Blades and the Repair Shop team will be anxiously looking over their shoulders as the BBC's 'It ain't broke, but we're going to fix it anyway' squad arrive at the barn.
