lately i've watched a fair number of dramas and rom-coms, but hardly ever finished one
then i came to this, an all-encompassing movie, as having been enchanted by the soundtrack ("Perfidia" by Xavier Cugat)
it somewhat resembles "In The Mood For Love" in the way of showering characters with nostalgia, sorrow, disillusionments and burning desires...(very Wong Kar-wai)
but this is also different
it is something wilder, not as ethereal but more "real life ish", not as romantic but no less passionate, not as writhing but really provoking and lingering far beyond watching
it perfectly captures the excitement, pleasure, insatiable craving as well as the patheticalness, powerlessness and hopelessness when falling in love
i wonder if the quote Yuddy always recited was really about himself - the heartbreaker. Maybe it's about all of them, or more precisely, all humans who are in constant flux with the vicissitude of life but always longing for love
"I've heard that there's a kind of bird without legs that can only fly and fly, and sleep in the wind when it is tired. The bird only lands once in its life... that's when it dies."
