I have have only seen snippets of what the movie is about, but I have been in the hand lettering part of the sign industry for a little over 40 years.Although the movie was primarily shot in the states,it is the same all over the world. It is a dying art and is being prostituted by these people making a stencil with a vinyl cutter and filling it in and calling it hand painted.I have seen this on such shows as Counting Cars,Pawn stars etc.I am proud of my craft but sadly alot of my peers are passed away, moved away, or retired. It is a very time consuming trade to learn and become proficient at to make money at so I doubt you will see a resurgence, and supplies are getting scarce and expensive to buy.Back in the day, alot of billboards had illustrations on them so I learned how to paint murals which kept me busy after the computer took away alot of the work.I love the trade and I consider myself one of the last true "signwriters" of the generations.
