The book is about a young man going through pilot training and transitioning into the F-16 fighter. It follows his training, F-16 upgrade training and subsequent flying in an operational F-16 squadron. Intermixed with this is a relationship with an interesting woman. This relationship develops throughout the book, both serious and humorous events.
I really enjoyed the book and after getting a few chapters into it I could not wait to get back to the story, if I was interrupted. A big twist in the story line about ¾ of the way through the book, leaves the reader a bit shocked and a second twist about the same time keeps you wondering if lives are coming apart. The end is satisfying and makes sense. An epilogue brings a logical conclusion to the lives of the people encountered in the book.
Overall a thoroughly enjoyable read. I have already started the second book Seven Deadly Ships and ordered the third book The Dangerous Seven.
