I have very mixed feelings about this game. Haven’t done 100% completion, but I feel like they tried to deliver a BioWare quality game without the quality. The background story regarding the Zeffo strongly reminds me of Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect. The ship’s small level of discovery and customization also remind me of Mass Effect, as well as the companions you can collect. Overall, however, the quality is definitely not there in these cases. The level of customization and word building is absolutely phenomenal in KOTOR and ME, but Fallen Order simply plays at acting like an immersive RPG when, for the most part, your sparse dialogue decisions have little to no impact. It really makes me question why even offer that option?
That being said, the story is okay. Like I said, nothing on the level of the aforementioned games, and to be honest, nothing with the depth of Battlefront 2, but it is entertaining. The beginning starts out great, tapers in the middle, and ends on a high note. I don’t know if it was just me, but I didn’t feel a strong connection to the characters. The dialogue is weak in some areas, but in others it flows smoothly.
Gameplay was fun and interesting, though the variety they implemented in the game for skills wasn’t that widespread. You basically get Force Push, Pull, and your lightsaber. It does play like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro, though I feel like the combat system of this game is way more forgiving. At times, on Grand Master level, this was immensely frustrating. Boss battles particularly were difficult, but it was more rewarding for the completion.
