I have read the book and was disappointed with this movie! They changed the character of Max to have a temper, which ruined the twist at the end. And Lily James majorly overacted or was told to over act her role. They also changed key moments in the plot compared to the book which made the timeline confusing and took away the punch of some of the lines. Such as when Mrs. Danvers says that Rebecca laughed at the men in her life, that was supposed to be told to both Max and Rebeccas lover but for some reason it's told to Frank? The third act was messy, rushed, and I don't really understand why the director made the decisions he did. The costumes and visuals were beautiful, but that was the only redemption. What was with the random floating skeleton? What happened to being subtle? Hollywood needs to tell new stories and stop remaking things we already love! Stick to the Hitchcock version which can be watched for free on YouTube.
