I really didn’t want to be a party pooper. Especially after the amazing reception that the newest Bond, outing has received. But I’m gonna have to be, brutally honest. The film for me had me left wondering, had I been abducted by aliens. Or was I on the same planet as all these 4/5 star reviewers ??
Yesterday I dragged myself out of my lockdown pit and went to see NO TIME TO DIE. It was to be my first cinema jaunt, since the plague. I journeyed to the theatre like a baby gazelle, gazelling, through the great, plains, of Africa. Once in the theatre, I armed myself with a Vue Chocolate Sundae, at its finest. I was made up. This bambino was born ready for an epic finale to Mr Admiral Daniel Bonds Craig’s, reign.
I adored the beginning and was blindsided in that this epic start, was a phenomenal sign, of things to come, Unfortunately for me it went from a hero to zero, quicker than an Armageddon, count down
So here goes turn away if you don’t want to hear this. Cos it’s gonna hurt, like a Jaws death grip.
Sadly I felt that the acting from most of the cast, was below parr. I just didn’t believe them. Some of the delivery was no different, to that of a performance from your, local nativity. Craig seemed to force his acting in phases throughout, the film. It just felt like his nemesis he wanted to get get home ASAP for a nice Earl Grey and a suggestive, digestive. I found some of his performances were animated and out of character for Bond. I just didn’t believe him.
The plot felt disjointed and throw away. Which was a big big shame. I felt safe rather than hanging on the edge of my seat. It was more tea cup ride Chessington, than Thorpe Parks Stealth
Ramin Maliks protagonists story line was weak, like his predictable Bond villain characateur. He was hardly in it. Robbing the audience of building any affinity with him. He became a non entity. Failing to to live up-to his rock star, predecessor. No magic here, mate.
By the end I had a numb bum and a numb heart. I didn’t care about any of the characters or the plot. Watching Craig was like watching Harry Kane’s recent performances for Tottenham. They just don’t want to be there. In Star Wars terms this was a bit Last Jedi for me.
Don’t get me wrong I love Daniel Craig. He is my favourite Bond saved by his classics ie Casino Royal and Skyfall. Which in my humble opinion are up there in with the best if not the best. Plus lest we forget Christopher Reeve, made the two best and two worst Supeman films.
I am baffled how this film has honed such notoriety. Maybe it has to do with the fact that this film had no choice, but to be a success. Or our beloved cinema industry would share Bonds ending in this film. So the industry, genuinely needed Bond, to save, the day. Or the only things parked in our cinema car parks would be Clint Eastwood, tumbleweed.
Like Disney and Tottenham. There is no excuse for a bad performance. Especially with the amount of money these establishments have at their disposal. Boasting it’s access, to the so called creme del a creme, of the industry. It is a crime to let the fandom down. I think it’s time hand over the reigns, to the hungry little man. The industry needs to take risks. That’s how David beat Goliath right??
I know Daniel Craig will go onto smash it in future projects. I still have Valhalla love for him. He definitely went out with a Bang literally. Great nostalgic references and a Bond Theme from Billy Eillish. Which is deserving of Bond, top ten, theme tune, status.
Unfortunately this film did have Time to Die ( Sorry JB:( 😱😱😱
